This is a wonderful kids crafts that includes the outdoors.

Age

3and up

This project is rated Easy  to do.

What you need

  • Colorful Leaf
  • Wax Paper
  • Clothes Iron

What you do

  1. Go exploring outside to find the most colorful leaves that you can find.  Maple and oak leaves work well (stay away from the Poison Ivy which also turns colors in the fall).
  2. Cute two pieces of ordinary wax paper large enough to cover your leaf.
  3.  Have your mom warm the iron up.
  4. Place a dish cloth underneath the place the leaf sandwiched between two pieces of waxed paper. Place another dish towel on top.
  5. Have mom iron the top dish towel slightly.
  6. Let cool and trim the leaf leaving the seal intact.

 Hints:

·         Put the iron on the lowest setting.  Having the iron too hot will almost evaporate the wax and the wax papers won't stick to each other.

·         It will be evident where the wax papers fused together so make sure you trim outside this area so that the leaf remains sealed.

·         This makes a great item to decorate tables, gift packages (as shown), or just inserted into your next letter to grandma.
